UNC Tar Heel Commit Joel Berry Shows Poise with Another State Title Win

Rant Sports- Dave Daniels

Joel Berry is no stranger to the spotlight, which is fitting since the young point guard will be playing at Chapel Hill next season. It is hard for the spotlight to get brighter than that, but we are all set for a show if Berry’s high school career is any indication. The talented guard won another state title recently, and so did fellow UNC Tar Heel commits Theo Pinson and Justin Jackson.

This year’s Tar Heels squad has had a shocking run lately, and their two point win recently kept their winning streak alive for their matchup at Cameron Indoor this Saturday. That one is going to be a live-wire kind of game, because the Heels already got the better of Jabari Parker’s squad in the first matchup.

The DVR is set; the popcorn is ready, and the stakes went up even more recently with the news that Myles Turner and Jahlil Okafor will be in attendance. If the Heels were able to get a win in front of those two, then it might sway Turner to go to a different school. My theory is that Turner will not attend, just because he would probably get more minutes with a different program.

In any case, the Heels have help coming next season no matter the result this weekend, and if Marcus Paige goes pro over the summer, Berry might just have to step up under the spotlight once again.
