I didn’t believe it either; that is, until I played the interview several times and saw clearly what Jahlil Okafor was predicting. Okafor predicts that Jabari Parker will return to Durham for his sophomore season, which is truly shocking. Parker would absolutely go in the top five of this summer’s draft, and returning to the Duke Blue Devils would make them a national story from now until the end of his college career.

The potential for this was always there; Parker is an odd duck. He has not even ruled out serving a Mormon mission, although that would appear truly foolish at this point. The forward’s destruction of the North Carolina Tar Heels on Saturday was mesmerizing, and I cannot wait to watch Parker suit up for a pro basketball team. He is perfectly entitled though, to enjoy every moment of his college career; he could stay all four years for all I care. We have plenty of players in pro basketball, like Tim Duncan and Joakim Noah, who stayed all four years and then still made an impact on the game.
Okafor will most likely not be a four year player, but who knows? Maybe Okafor will pay attention to how many years that his former AAU teamate stays in school and then follow suit. That is all for Prep Sports today, but here is a bit of fortune cookie wisdom just in case you need a little inspiration.
