The Auburn Tigers once again reached into the state of Georgia on Sunday as they reeled in 2015 three-star linebacker Montavious Atkinson.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound OB chose the Tigers over Cincinnati, East Carolina and Kentucky. Atkinson is rated as the 25th-best ILB in the nation and No. 58 overall player from the state of Georgia in the 2015 class. He received an offer from the Tigers back on Feb. 18 and named them as his leader on March 1. The Fairburn, GA native then unofficially visited the Tigers on March 5 and saw everything he needed to see and committed just less than two weeks later.
The Langston Hughes High School product is a talented player in his own right, but his high school teammate D’Andre Walker is rated as a 4-star recruit and the 10th-best defensive end in the nation. Atkinson has said that there is a good chance he and Walker will attend college together, and Walker visited Auburn with Atkinson back on March 5. Currently, Walker is favoring Georgia and Auburn.
Atkinson was an all-region selection as a sophomore in 2012, where he lead the team in tackles with 118 and also recorded two fumble recoveries for touchdowns.
