The Duke Blue Devils have not been playing great March basketball in the last couple of seasons, and even though they are doing a fantastic job on the recruiting trail, it has not resulted in postseason success for them recently.
That could all change next season, and I am predicting that they will make the Final Four. The Blue Devils welcome the top ranked recruiting class to town, and it includes the best player in the class, Jahlil Okafor.
My main reason that Okafor will get the Blue Devils back to the best weekend in college basketball? He takes losing personally.
“All of our losses in the state playoffs,” Okafor said to USA TODAY Sports about what his most remembered defeat was. “Usually, after each one, it took me a week before I wanted to start talking to people.”
I wonder how long it would take for him to start talking to people if he had lost it again this season. Thank goodness that we will never know.
My second main reason that Okafor will make a Final Four happen is because he now has a possible chance to be on the same team as the player responsible for all three of his state playoff defeats. Just saying. Together? They could make college basketball stick it where the sun doesn’t shine.
