Stanley Johnson was showing off his athleticism at the Nike Hoop Summit last night, and I came away from the game thinking that he will be the Pac-12 rookie of the year. He could even be near the top of the Pac-12 in scoring average, but after looking at the numbers this season that might be difficult.
Don’t get me wrong; Johnson has the talent to lead the league in scoring, but that will not be his main focus. Nor will it be the focus of head coach, Sean Miller, who has had his players balling within a team context as of later and it is definitely producing wins.

For any Arizona Wildcat fans out there who are not familiar with Johnson, then you are all in for a real treat next season. He helped Mater Dei (CA) to an undefeated record this year, and in his high school career he notched four state titles in as many years. We will have to see if Johnson can keep up his winning ways, and if he can get the Wildcats back to the Final Four, then he might have as many fans in Tuscon as he does right now in California. In any case, we will be seeing Johnson play in the pros fairly soon, and the delay will only be caused by how long he wants to stay in college for.
That is all for Prep today, but then be sure to check out Rant Sports’ pro basketball content as well.
