Duke Blue Devils Commit Jahlil Okafor’s Double-Double Helps USA to Nike Hoop Summit Victory

At the end of the day, the International squad at the Nike Hoop Summit just did not have enough low post defense against Jahlil Okafor and the USA team won the match 84-73.

Chad Ford tweeted about the event, and he claimed that there were five lottery picks on the USA team. I’m finding it hard to argue with any of the names below, and I would also say that Okafor is the frontrunner to be the top pick in that draft.

I had a chance to re-watch the Hoop Summit this morning, and it struck me how unselfish Okafor is on the low block. If I had the talent that he does, then it would be a rare thing for me to pass the ball. It is rare for a superstar to enjoy passing the ball that much, and it reminds me a bit of how Shaquille O’Neal used to love setting up one of his teammates with a baseline cut bounce pass.

I have one more Rant Sports Prep article in progress today, but then also be sure to keep an eye out for a slideshow on rumors surrounding the Golden State Warriors. Have they fired a third assistant coach? You’ll just have to tune in later to my pro basketball page.
