Jahlil Okafor’s confidence seems to be building, which means real trouble for the college basketball landscape next season. Okafor won MVP of his squad at the Jordan Brand Classic, and fellow Chicagoan Cliff Alexander took home honors for the other team. Let us just put it this way; it was a quite a Chicago themed night in New York, and you should probably get used to hearing the names Okafor and Alexander together in the same sentence.

Okafor had quite a nice run this season, and the thing that has impressed me the most about his improvement in the last year has been his conditioning. He has been a highly skilled big man from quite a young age, but he is now beginning to run like a gazelle. This was an area of concern for some of the coaches recruiting him, but it appears that it is a problem that he has corrected in the last year.
That means super bad news for the ACC, and it would not surprise me to see Okafor become the second freshman in as many years to lead the Duke Blue Devils in scoring and rebounding. Jabari Parker was the first, and his former AAU teammates could end up being the second. Don’t count it out.
