Joel Berry II, the North Carolina Tar Heels commit, had quite an impressive high school basketball career and the folks in Chapel Hill will be hoping that the young guard can bring that same swagger to college. He won two state titles, and he also won another honor recently in his home state. The guard was recently named Mr. basketball in Florida for the third time, and he seemed to be humbled by the news that was not completely unexpected here at Rant Sports Prep.
“It’s a blessing and an honor to be Mr. Basketball three times,” Berry said. “All the hard work and dedication, coming out working out here at the school and going out on the court and putting my all out there all has paid off.”
Head coach Roy Williams will have quite a lot of depth at the guard position next season after the news that Marcus Paige would return for his junior season, and it should be super intriguing to see what kind of rotation he uses to start the year.
Berry will most likely come off the bench at first, but he is definitely not a bad second option to have. Something tells me that Tar Heel nation will grow to love his game. Much thanks for reading, and I will leave you with a bit of fortune cookie wisdom as always.
