Duke Blue Devils commit Jahlil Okafor recently got compared to Al Jefferson on twitter, and I like the analogy for the most part. However…
Here is how I would follow up on it though. I would say that Okafor is going to become the rich man’s version of Jefferson, and do not get me wrong. I LOVE Big Al, but I also think that Okafor is going to be the number one pick in the 2015 draft.

That is if I had to pick right now by the way, but I also really love point guard Emmanuel Mudiay within this class. Larry Brown is getting an absolute gem for the SMU Mustangs next season, and they should be ranked in the preseason top 25.
The reason that the Jefferson comparison works is because of their respective skill with the ball. They can each score with either hand once they are within 15 feet of the hoop, and that is absolutely impossible to defend.
The way that the two centers differ has mainly to do with potential. Okafor greatly improved his conditioning this season, and if it is something the center can master then he could end up becoming Hakeem Olajuwon 2.0. That is why the Jefferson comparison is not toally fair to Okafor, because, at the very least, I see multiple All Star games in the Whitney Young (IL) product’s future.
All for Prep today, but be sure to stop by for a new Gatorade spot as well as a slideshow about what Pat Riley might do this summer.
