Defensive Tackle Jacob Daniel Gives USC Trojans Added Depth to 2015 Recruiting Class
The USC Trojans recently added a four star defensive tackle to their 2015 class, and his name is Jacob Daniel.
Is that biblical enough for you?
The DT is the sixth best football player in the state of California in the 2015 class according to 24/7 Sports, and the Trojans are adding a real gem to their roster. By heading to USC, Daniel is reunited with Steve Sarkisian.
The head coach had recruited Daniel while with the Washington Huskies.
You know that football players always keep it in the family right? It would honestly have been more shocking if the defensive tackle did not attend USC.
Daniel even gave a verbal commitment to the Huskies, but the Trojans were the favorite to land him after Sarkisian moved. If you pay close attention, then you can see how the business aspect of football works at times.
Daniel had 20 offers from some of the nation’s top programs, including Alabama, but it was the Trojan coaches who made the difference in the defensive tackle’s recruitment.
“The relationships I have built with their coaching staff was a big factor,” Daniel said to the Fresno Bee last week. “The fact that it’s a great education and close to home set them a part from other programs.”
The education part is true, but Daniel is probably also hoping that the Trojans can get back to a BCS bowl. That part remains to be seen, and you can bet that it will take a lot more commits like this. If Sarkisian can continue to recruit well though, then he will at least have enough talent to bide himself some time.
