Justin Hilliard is a five-star linebacker according to all recruiting outlets, and so, of course, the Alabama Rolling Tide have come a calling. They should be considered the favorites until further notice.
“When every school in the country is recruiting you and he names the top five and Alabama is one of them, I’d say the interest is awful high,” said his high school coach Steve Specht to AL.com. “Alabama is Alabama. You can look around and see who has the most national championships over the past few years.”
The words of his current coach cannot be underestimated, and we will have to see if to Tide end up benefitting.
Hilliard tweeted out a picture of his top five, and it was quite an impressive litany of schools. We will have to see where he ends up committing, but you can keep up with him on twitter @JHilliard47.
His brother, C.J. Hilliard, signed with the Iowa Hawkeyes in February, but I would anticipate the younger brother to end up at a different school even though a family reunion is still possible at this point. In the end, I see Nick Saban coming through and landing this young man.
It would not be the first time that Saban landed an elite recruit in Texas, and it will definitely not be the last. Look out for Alabama in the next few years, because they seem to keep on bringing in the best talent in the country.
