Blue Chip WR Tyron Johnson Should Be a Key Priority for the LSU Tigers
The LSU Tigers could sure use a receiver like Tyron Johnson, and they are hoping that the blue chip prospect commits to them as soon as possible. That is because Johnson has truly elite abilities that the Tigers could use immediately.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound receiver out of Warren Easton High School (New Orleans, LA) is probably feeling a little bit of hometown pressure to join the Tigers, but he cannot go wrong with any of the schools on his list. It seems that his home state school has been putting the most pressure on him though.
“LSU is in my backyard and they have shown me how bad they want me,” he told 247Sports. “Texas Tech throws the ball a lot and that is something I really like with them. They were there from the beginning and they were the first to offer. You always remember that first one.”
Tech is probably out of the mix at this point, although you never know what could happen in the world of football recruiting. Any of these programs would be lucky to land Johnson; he snagged 20 touchdowns last season to go along with over 1,300 receiving yards. USA TODAY Sports compared him to Justin Blackmon, which is a pretty high bar to set. No pun intended.
When you watch Johnson’s highlights, you can see how he will give defensive coordinators quite a lot of headaches at the college level. Now we will just have to wait and see where the young man ends up committing, and the Tigers are hoping they are the lucky suitors.
