The amount of violence is this world is getting out of control.

People think it’s perfectly fine to attack another person for any reason that they come up with. When I was a kid, I was taught that you treat other people with respect and handle things without violence. The only physical altercation I was ever involved in was in kindergarten when another kid bit me. Outside of that, I never had any problems with anyone, but those days seem to be a thing of the past.

This past week, Lakewood beat Long Beach Millikan in California high school football. During the game, one of Millikan’s players ran up and kicked a Lakewood player in the face after he had lost his helmet.

Following the game, this happened:

“We have many questions about the locker room incident after last night’s game. Below is some information that can be passed onto you until more is released. Thank you for your concern and support. This is very disgusting and breaks my heart that our players were subjected to this.

After the Millikan vs Lakewood football game, our players were headed to Lakewood locker room to collect their belongings. Security unlocked it for them and along with a coach and trainer, they headed in. A Lakewood player’s family pushed the security guard aside and then attacked 4 of our players. Two were struck in the face and two were grabbed by the neck. Physically bruised but I am sure emotionally not okay. This all happened in less than 30 seconds and the family was out before the coach and trainer could do something. Security did nothing to stop the family from leaving. Fortunately, they know who they are and arrests are the next step. Both Millikan and Lakewood administration are involved along with police reports being filed. This will not be hidden and will not go away, rest assured.”

I understand being upset that a player from the opposing team would have the gall to come up and kick one your players in the face, but attacking high school kids in the locker room after the game is not the way to handle the situation, especially considering it was one player who committed the act and the family ended up assaulting three other innocent players. Parents should be setting examples for their children, not becoming part of the problem.

As long as the authority figures continue to conduct themselves in this manner, there’s no hope for the children in this world.
