John Cena is clearly the big dog in the WWE right now. Randy Orton probably follows very close behind Cena in popularity. Due to Cena’s immense popularity the WWE seems to want him to be the next Hulk Hogan but is afraid to turn him into the next Rock.

What do I mean by that? If you wrestling fans remember Hulk Hogan was always the drink your milk and take you vitamins guy with the WWE. He was just a good guy that was well loved. It wasn’t till he came back from WCW, where they turned him heel, had he been a bad guy in the WWE. Then when he was a heel he never really got too much heat because he was Hulk Hogan. The WWE is dangerously close to doing that with Cena. They refuse to turn him heel for some reason.

I want to see more of The Rock in John Cena. I want to see that he can play both sides of the coin. Right now you get the “Cena Sucks” chants as much as the “Let’s Go Cena” chants. He still has a chance to turn on the fans and go heel for a while. Then we all know he is capable of it and he can do it at any point to change up some story lines. This good guy all the time thing doesn’t work for me. I would cheer him harder if I knew he was a more well rounded wrestler and could play both sides of the coin. I never really liked Hogan for that reason. I loved The Rock and Stone Cold because of it. It’s probably also why I enjoy Orton more than Cena. Randy Orton is a good bad guy and good guy.

There is no doubt Cena has the skills. The WWE just has to let him do it.
