CM Punk is awesome. That’s not really a debate anymore. When he broke into the WWE, his babyface character was one of the worst, most boring characters ever. I hated CM Punk. People kept telling me that CM Punk was getting packaged wrong and he dominated in Ring of Honor. Well, I’m glad those people were right because the WWE has an amazing talent on their hands. Not only is CM Punk an amazing talent, but he’s also a huge Chicago Cubs’ fan as he threw out the first pitch and sang the 7th inning stretch of tonight’s game against the Atlanta Braves.

CM Punk did a nice job during the stretch. He sang it how it is supposed to be sung, and that’s all that is really needed. CM Punk stayed throughout the bottom of the 7th inning while Len Kasper and Bob Brenly interviewed him for the three minutes he had. It was clear CM Punk was excited to be there to sing the stretch, considering he isn’t one of those fake celebrity Cubs’ fans. He bleeds Cubbie blue through and through.

Performing the 7th inning stretch has been a tradition at Wrigley Field ever since Harry Caray passed away in 1998. We have see several good performances, a few bad performances, and some flat out ugly performances. We can’t ever forget the Osbournes, Jeff Gordon, or  Mike Ditka performing the stretching. Although, Ditka’s is so bad it’s funny rather than annoying. Not only does he fly through it in 23 seconds, but he has a moment where he hits puberty again towards the end.

The next time we will see CM Punk will be at the pay-per-view Over the Limit where he takes on fellow Ring of Honor alumnus, Daniel Bryan, for the WWE Championship. Certainly a match that will make the Internet Wresting Community giddy with anticipation.

Bryan is a featured writer for Rant Sports. Although he concentrates mostly on the game of baseball, you can find him covering things all over the Rant Sports Network.
