Happy 68th Birthday to Terry Funk

By Maurice D. Proffit

On behalf of myself and the rest of the Rant Sports writing staff, we would like to wish the Hardcore Legend a happy and healthy 68th birthday. Funk’s pro wrestling resume is a mega list of storied accomplishments in the world of professional wrestling. Funk is one of the very few men to appear in the NWA, AWA, WWF/E, WCW, ECW, ROH, and TNA and capturing championship gold all over the world. In addition to his accomplishments, Funk is the only man to be inducted into the WWE, WCW, Professional Wrestling, NWA, Hardcore, and Wrestling Observer Halls of Fame.

Funk started his career wrestling, working for his father, Dory Funk Sr’s local promotion in Amarillo, Texas. Soon after Terry and his brother Dory Jr. worked the ranks and eventually went on to work with the NWA (National Wrestling Alliance). Funk won his first world title by defeated Jack Brisco in 1975 to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. This would be the first of many accolades that Terry would win in his most illustrious career.

Great Birthday Wishes for the Grandfather of Hardcore Wrestling.
