As WWE heads towards the 1000th episode of Monday Night Raw, speculation also continues to grow about Summerslam. It’s pretty much a forgone conclusion that Brock Lesnar will take on Triple H, and that John Cena and CM Punk will be involved in the title match. These plans have been rumored for quite some time now.
However, last night I noticed that WWE plugged The Rock‘s return for the 1000th episode right after they announced the title match between Punk and Cena. Now this could merely be a coincidence because it was the end of the show, but I’m starting to think otherwise.
The Rock reiterated this week on Twitter that he once again will pursue the WWE championship, a goal he announced the night after Wrestlemania 28. If the Rock says he’s going to win the title one more time, he’s probably got some sort of deal to do so.

So could the Rock join the WWE title picture for Summerslam this year?
I think there’s a very good possibility he does. Setting up the match would be very easy, as Rock would just have to get involved in the title match on Raw 1000, most likely costing Cena the title.
Everybody knows the history between Rock and Cena, but Punk has also made no secret that he’s not a big fan of the People’s Champ. These three would be very entertaining on the mic leading into a big match.
A triple threat match for the WWE title at Summerslam would be great for business. The Rock’s involvement would dramatically boost interest in an event, which already figures to be quite the production…
