The Rock Will Wrestle For The WWE Championship At The 2013 Royal Rumble

By Riley Schmitt

The Rock made his return to Monday Night Raw and he laid down an interesting announcement.  The Rock will end up wrestling for the WWE Championship at the 2013 Royal Rumble.  Unexpected and unorthodox, but quite interesting.

The Rock has said that he wants to be the champion going into Wrestlemania and this will certainly take the cake on that.  It would be interesting but not sustainable for long.  That is why they are gearing it up for only a two month or so run.  It makes a lot of sense that way.  If you tried putting the belt on him for longer than that, it just would destroy any momentum the company might have.

People expect the champion to be John Cena.  It just makes too much sense.  Cena will want a rematch and that makes perfect sense for those two to continue their feud.  It just makes too much sense.

The feud might anger some traditional fans but The Rock is just too big of a star to not have involved at Wrestlemania and other pay per views.  He will draw fans and ratings and having the belt on him is going to get mainstream attention.  That is what the company wants and that is what the company will get.

This announcement was just one of the great things on the 1000th episode of Raw.  There will be more things coming but nothing is going to top Rocky wanting to wrestle for the belt at the Rumble.
