It has been discussed for the past couple of days, but today, the announcement was final. Velvet Sky and TNA Wrestling have parted ways.
Velvet released a statement today via her twitter, regarding the separation.
I have been granted my release by TNA at this time. It’s what’s best for me right now and I wanted to thank TNA and all the fans for their constant support in me. Stay tuned though. And I also want to thank Vince Russo for creating and believing in the team of The Beautiful People. We had a great run!
This decision didn’t come as an easy one as Velvet is one of the top Knockout Talents in the company. Especially since she just made a music video with Montgomery Gentry, just recently.
With TNA deciding to go live every week, the expense have been up a considerable amount. Taking into consideration how much it cost for a company to broadcast a live show, and in addition, flying in talent and housing them as well in thew Orlando areas on a weekly basis, as opposed to a bi monthly basis like they were doing before they went live, all adds up. Due to the overwhelming expenses, the company had to make some drastic cuts of top tiered talent.
No word as of yet if Velvet is considering testing the waters of World Wrestling Entertainment (where she would be a perfect fit for the company), but due to the lawsuit that TNA has on WWE, those plans may be put on hold for a while, since talent from TNA is not being signed to WWE.
Velvet sky, former Knockouts Champion, former TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champion and one half of the legendary “Beautiful People”, proved that the Pretty Can Play, as she was an outstanding talent in the ring. She will be missed, and hopefully, we’ll see her again very soon.
