WWE Rumors: Company Starting To Scout for the Next John Cena

Andrew Weber-US PRESSWIRE

In the wake of John Cena‘s recent elbow surgery, the Internet is swarming with rumors that WWE is starting to think about their next top star.

The reality is that Cena is 35 years old, and most think his most recent surgery made WWE officials realize that he’s not going to be around forever.

I had no idea Cena was 35, but to me it’s not that big of a deal. Normal superstars start to drop off at that age, but Cena is no normal wrestler. He’s not only physically superior to most humans, but he also has more drive than nearly everyone in the world of sports and entertainment.

John Cena is going to be around for many years to come, he loves the business, and it’s his life. Cena is also a team player, and he knows there’s a point when every top guy has to pass the torch. It’s just how it goes.

You can’t blame WWE for starting to think about the next top guy. Sure, it’s a change that won’t happen overnight, but it will happen in the next 2-3 years.

So who’s the next guy up?

Believe it or not, Sheamus is actually a guy being being rumored.

I’m going to go ahead and say no to that. I think Sheamus is a good character that will be around a long time, but he’s not No. 1 material. He’s best served as a heel in my opinion.

CM Punk is clearly not going to be the next big guy either. There’s a reason he’s being pushed as the top heel right now against Cena, he’ll never be popular to the masses like his counterpart.

Honestly I don’t even know if the next top face is on the roster right now? I see a lot of solid guys that will be around forever, and a lot of top heels, but no top guys. No Hogans or Rocks.

Cody Rhodes and Dolph Ziggler are the two heels that will be in main events for a long time, but who will they face?

Cena’s role is safe for quite awhile if you ask me.
