Even though CM Punk is the current WWE Champion and has been one of its biggest stars for the last 18 months, the company has still failed to promote him to the level that someone like John Cena receives.
Punk vented his frustrations via numerous tweets on his official Twitter account. He is due to appear on AMC’s Talking Dead live show this Sunday night but the company has yet to announce his upcoming appearance. The show runs for 30 minutes where people discuss episodes of the popular TV show The Walking Dead.
Punk tweeted the following on WWE ‘s lack of promotion on his appearance:
“Shocking how WWE didn’t promote it or get AMC the proper materials in time to announce it.”
Punk is also due to appear at the Chicago Turkey Parade to be the Grand Marshall. Apparently the company failed to promote this appearance as well…
In comparison, Cena’s public appearances are always promoted heavily throughout all of WWE programming. Not only that, but the company records his appearances and repeats them all of the time.
Punk is used to this kind of “treatment” though. Before his elevated status in the company in mid-2011, Punk complained how he was “barely promoted” and was never invited on talk shows such as Jimmy Kimmel etc.
However, this might signal the first time that the company failed to promote him while he is the reigning WWE Champion and its top star at the moment. Yes, Punk is still a heel character but he’s a representative of the company and should be promoted as much as possible.
