WWE Rumors: Possible Title Unification at Wrestlemania

With rumors floating all over the internet about John Cena vs. The Rock II at Wrestlemania 29, most figure the match will have to involve the WWE Championship. Rock is currently set to take on CM Punk at the Royal Rumble in January, and it seems likely he’ll walk away with the title. Why would they schedule this match seven months in advance, and not give the title to Rock?

So logically you’d think Punk would get a rematch, but by the time Mania rolls around, Rock will need a new opponent. Cena is a very logical choice.

Cena likely would beat the Rock as he heads back off to Hollywood for several months, but would return down the road to set up a third and final match between the two. I’m just going to be very shocked if they don’t have at least three matches.

So mixed in with all this is the fact Cena has a match where he can win the World Heavyweight Title briefcase. It could just be a coincidence, or a way to draw attention to a pretty lack luster PPV in TLC, but it seems Cena could be in line to win Sunday night in Brooklyn.

If Cena gets the briefcase, he’ll more than likely win the WHC from Big Show at some point in the next month. So it’s very possible that by the time the Royal Rumble is over, we could have both Rock and Cena with world title belts.

The problem is, I don’t see how the logic would work to get the two in a match, unless Cena also wins the Rumble as the WHC. Because otherwise, who does the winner of the Rumble face if Cena and Rock are in a unification match?

All in all I think a unification for the world titles is long-shot, but it’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility.
