Sin Cara Is Injured Again
Sin Cara is experiencing issues with his knees and it’s highly likely that he will need to take time off to heal them. This will severely alter WWE’s plans for the next few months as they try to build hype and matches for WrestleMania 29.
Cara was due to wrestle Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania 29, but this match might not happen thanks to his injury. This will be the second year in a row that this match couldn’t happen because of Cara getting injured.
Last year, officials were planning Cara vs. Mysterio at WrestleMania 28. The plan was to get the crowd to all wear masks during the match to set a new world record for most people wearing masks in one place at the same time.
Cara suffered a “ruptured patellar tendon” while botching a spot at last year’s Survivor Series. The injury kept him out for months and obviously he wasn’t able to compete against Mysterio at WrestleMania 28 because of it.
The WWE wanted to do the match again, which is why they made both of them into a tag-team. The plan was for them to break up prior to WrestleMania 29 to ignite a feud that would culminate in a match at WrestleMania.
As of right now, the company has no back up plans for Mysterio to face off against another luchador. It’s possible they could let Alberto del Rio wear a mask like he did prior to joining the WWE and let Mysterio face him instead. Even though these two have faced each other numerous times before, they have not gone up against one another as both babyfaces.
