Brock Lesnar is due to come back to the WWE in late February to hype up a match that he will be competing in at WrestleMania 29. It’s expected that he will face off against Triple H in a SummerSlam rematch. Is this match actually one that fans want to see? Is it better for him to face off against someone else instead?
First things first, Lesnar’s return in 2012 was seen as a good thing. Many people were anticipating he would dominate the company again much like he did in 2002. With this UFC fame behind him, he could have made WWE popular like it was over a decade ago.
But then details started to leak about his “one year” contract deal and it was unlikely he could wrestle for the company on a regular basis. After he lost at Extreme Rules in a highly entertaining bout with John Cena, he was expected to return until SummerSlam.
Lesnar did return and was scheduled to face off with Triple H. Lesnar did not face Triple H before back in his original run in the company and this was a match that fans had been longing to see for nearly ten years. Sadly though, the match did not live up to expectations and many fans did not want to see a rematch.
Now that WrestleMania 29 is just around the corner, Triple H himself wants to book himself against Lesnar in a rematch to get his “revenge”. Although this makes sense from a storyline point of view, it seems like a wasted opportunity for Lesnar to face Triple H once again.
If Lesnar does not decide to renew his contract with the company after WrestleMania 29, he would have only faced off with two people only. There are a number of other people that could have had exciting matches against Lesnar such as CM Punk, Randy Orton and a host of other young talent that weren’t in the company back in 2002 – 2003.
To me, it seems like a waste for him to face Triple H again considering their first match was boring. A match with The Rock or The Undertaker even might get more people excited.
What do you think of a SummerSlam rematch at WrestleMania 29?
