WWE Rumors: Wrestlemania 29 to Feature Several Rematches
With the Royal Rumble right around the corner, internet rumors have picked up in regards to potential Wrestlemania 29 matches. For awhile fans have had a rough idea of what might take place, but this is a year where things are still very much up in air, unlike a year ago.
So of course taking this for what it is, here are the rumored top four matches to take place at this year’s event:
Sheamus vs. Randy Orton (WHC)
Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H
CM Punk vs. The Undertaker
John Cena vs. The Rock (WWE title)
Notice a theme? All of these matches have taken place before at some point in history, and most of them within the last year.
Of course only one of these bouts has been featured at Wrestlemania before, that being Cena/Rock, so at least the feel of these potential matches would be different. The ante is no doubt upped in any WM contest.
But how many of these matches do fans really want to see? I mean, I’ll take it if that’s what we get, but I think they could do a much better job.
I just flat out think it’s too soon for Rock/Cena II. It will happen at some point, but I think it should take place at a lesser PPV, because we all know Cena is going to win. Then you use that to set up a third and final showdown at a future Mania.
HHH/Lesnar II? Snooze. Again, obviously Triple H is going to win.
Punk/Taker is the most intriguing match by far, but I think we all know that Taker will once again prevail on the grandest stage of them all.
As for Sheamus/Orton VI, or whatever number it is, I will only care if it’s a heel Orton. Hopefully they add Ziggler into the mix to salvage this match.
So if these are indeed the big four matches of WM 29, fans can only hope stipulations, titles, and streaks are all on the line, because something will have to be done to make these feuds seem fresh and interesting.
