Several reports have come in that WWE has already confirmed the four main events for WrestleMania 29. The PPV is famous for featuring dream matches that fans have been longing to see. This might not be the case this year…
First of all, the four “planned” matches so far are all rematches we’ve seen in the past. Two of the matches have been seen by fans in less than twelve months. Is this really a WrestleMania that fans will want to see?
At first we have The Rock vs. John Cena for the WWE Title. Their first meeting was just last year in a billed “Once in a Lifetime” match. It was the biggest match fans had seen since Rock faced Hulk Hogan back in 2002. It was a major success and earned the WWE lots of money. A rematch might seem like a good thing, but it will be too predictable. Cena is obviously going to win this match as Rock will need to go back to Hollywood.
Next up you have Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H. This match only took place last August at SummerSlam. Unlike the above match, this encounter was average to say the least. Triple H is likely to beat Lesnar this time around. Let’s hope this match is turned into a “Street Fight” of some kind to spice things up.
Then we have CM Punk vs. The Undertaker. These two faced each other is a series of matches back in 2009. Sure, Punk wasn’t as big of a star back then but this is still a match that most people have already seen before. It’s not like how Undertaker faced Batista back at WrestleMania 23 as that was a real first encounter between the two stars.
Lastly there is Sheamus vs. Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight title. Again, this is a match that was seen back in 2010 when Sheamus was a heel and Orton was a babyface. The roles might be reversed this time around, although the matches they had weren’t that memorable and I don’t think they can do anything else interesting again for WrestleMania 29.
Are you liking how WrestleMania 29 is shaping up so far if the rumored reported matches are true?
