WWE Elimination Chamber Match Will Determine No. 1 Contender for WHC

In less than three weeks, WWE Elimination Chamber will take place from the New Orleans Center in Louisiana. Given that there is such a short turnaround to this pay-per-view, most of the matches figure to be announced by next Monday on Raw.

So far it’s been announced that The Rock will defend the WWE title against CM Punk and on Tuesday at the Smackdown taping, a Chamber match was also announced. The Chamber match will be to determine the No. 1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship.

This, of course, is different from the past few years where there were two Chamber matches, with one of them being an actual title match. With the lessening of brand extension, and Rock/Punk II, it looks like there will only be the one chamber match this year.

Alberto Del Rio figures to defend the WHC against Big Show in what should be their final match together. The wild-card in all of this is Dolph Ziggler. I think he and Jericho will have a singles match because there’s no real point to putting him in a No. 1 contenders match when he already has the MITB briefcase. He could easily cash in later in the night.

So who will all be involved in the Chamber match?

You’d have to figure Randy Orton and Sheamus are locks while the remaining spots are somewhat up in the air. Apparently, Jack Swagger returned on Smackdown and demanded to be in the match and Great Khali was also involved in a similar segment. Swagger and Khali? Snooze.

All in all, I think that it boils down to Orton, Sheamus, Ziggler and Del Rio being involved in the WHC picture as we get closer to WM29. I just don’t see them going outside that box unless they want to get Ryback involved.

Long story short, don’t get your hopes up for the Chamber match this year, because it looks like the annual February PPV will be built around singles matches.
