John Cena Royal Rumble Winner

The Royal Rumble winner has a choice of who he wants to face at WrestleMania each year. He has to choose between the WWE or World Heavyweight Champion. It’s usually a tough decision but John Cena appeared to have discarded the World Heavyweight title completely.

After Cena beat Cody Rhodes in a standard match, he grabbed the microphone to announce who he wanted to face off at WrestleMania. He said his odds of facing CM Punk or The Rock for the WWE Title are slim. This is because he’s never beaten Punk for two years now and he lost to The Rock at WrestleMania 28. To prove that he’s the best, he chose to face one of those two for the WWE Title at WrestleMania 29.

In Cena’s exact words, he said whoever wins the World Heavyweight Title will have “better odds of winning.” It sounded arrogant and appeared as if Cena assumed he’d win the title regardless of who is champion. Since most of the Smackdown roster is in contention for that title, Cena buried them all in one sentence right there.

If you take this even further, the WWE itself hasn’t promoted the World Heavyweight Title as a big deal anymore. For the past two WrestleMania events, it was booked as the first match on the card. Not to mention the last time the belt was in the main event of WrestleMania was back in 2008. This was when Edge lost to The Undertaker that year.

Does WWE care about the World Heavyweight Champion anymore?
