The WWE did something interesting the other day by adding Jeff Hardy to its “Alumni” section on WWE.com. Not only that, but the company even advertised his profile on their official Facebook page.
This initially sparked rumors that Hardy is due for a return to the company. After all, Hardy’s contract with TNA expires later this year. All of the rumors and chatter are now laid to rest since TNA revealed Hardy re-signed with them for another two years instead.
TNA President Dixie Carter said in an interview that Hardy signed a “new long-term deal with TNA Wrestling“. Two years isn’t exactly a long time, but this will prevent Hardy from returning to the WWE anytime soon.
Hardy signing with TNA for another two years is a sensible move. The company has awarded him the World Heavyweight Title on more than one occasion and is advertised as the company’s main star. Not to mention PPV buy rates have increased since he became champion last October.
If Hardy chose to sign back with the WWE, he’s still on two strikes on its “Wellness Policy Program”. One more strike and he’s fired from the company. Let’s not forget that TNA’s schedule is a lot less hectic than what WWE wrestlers have to go through each week.
TNA is hoping Hardy can push the company to new heights. With the help of Hulk Hogan and TNA taking its shows on the road later this year, the company is hoping it will further increase its fan base.
