According to a report from WrestleZone, Bruno Sammartino has been paid a lot of money by the WWE to enter this year’s Hall of Fame.

Normally every person that gets inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame is paid $5,000. It’s possible more high price guys like Stone Cold Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels were paid more, but details of their pay have never been released to the public.

A source close to Sammartino says that he’s not receiving anything close to the small $5,000 that most inductees get. Although he did not say how much Sammartino was getting, he mentioned it was something in the high six figure mark. He also says his pay is similar to that of a WrestleMania main eventer. Wrestlers that headline WrestleMania are usually paid around $750,000. It’s possible Sammartino is getting paid $500,000 or more just to enter the Hall of Fame.

Sammartino said in a recent interview that he only received $5,000 like the rest of this year’s inductees. It’s said he mentioned that to downplay the fact that the only reason he’s entering the Hall of Fame this year is for the money.

It’s highly possible WWE offered Sammartino the large amount to bring legitimacy back into the Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame has been criticized for several years by inducting celebrities such as Mike Tyson and Drew Carey among others. Sammartino has denied WWE’s offer to enter the Hall of Fame for the past decade until now.
