For a few weeks now, many were doubting whether the Undertaker will making a return to the WWE ring this year. This is because he’d just received surgery on his hip and shoulder, and many believed that he was in no shape to return. Everyone was shocked to see him make his in-ring return at a WWE live event in Texas.
Live events are not televised, so it’s very interesting that WWE would make someone as famous as Undertaker wrestle in such a small venue. Even The Rock hasn’t appeared on any live events since his 2011 return to the company.
One would think WWE would make Undertaker return when all of the cameras are rolling. It would have made more sense if he returned on Monday Night Raw, or even at the Royal Rumble PPV. It’s possible Undertaker made this decision to see if he’s in shape to wrestle at WrestleMania 29. Plus, the live event was in Texas, which is his home state.
Undertaker teamed up with Sheamus to face Damien Sandow and Wade Barrett. Undertaker looked to be in pretty good shape during the match, which suggests that he’s able to wrestle at WrestleMania 29, which takes place in just a few weeks.
Undertaker’s return might mean CM Punk finally has an opponent for the event. Many people were predicting Punk would have been added to The Rock vs. John Cena match, making it a triple threat contest. Now that Undertaker appears to be in fighting shape again, Punk will have to face him instead.
