The Fight For WrestleMania 31 Is On
With the announcement that WrestleMania XXX will be held in New Orleans, some cities in the United States are already making bids to the WWE to host WrestleMania 31 in 2015.
Orlando is one city that is interested in hosting a WrestleMania event in the future. The city already hosted WrestleMania XXIV back in 2008 and WWE was happy with the way that event turned out. If Orlando misses out on WrestleMania 31, the city hopes it can bookmark WrestleMania 32 instead. It’s highly likely the event will be held in the Citrus Bowl again which holds over 70,000 people.
The only thing stopping Orlando from hosting it again is the Citrus Bowl itself. Even though the stadium has received a lot of upgrades, some of its facilities are still old fashioned. Some fans that attended WrestleMania XXIV complained that the seats looked old among other things.
Another city fighting for WrestleMania 31 is Detroit. Detroit hosted WrestleMania 23 back in 2007. WrestleMania 23 had the second largest attendance ever at a WrestleMania with over 80,000 fans packed inside Ford Field. Only WrestleMania 3 had a larger audience with over 93,000 fans packing inside the Pontiac Silverdome for Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant.
WWE might be interested in Detroit more considering WrestleMania 23 is the only recent WrestleMania event that sold out weeks in advance. Other recent WrestleMania events only sold out up until the day itself.
Many fans were hoping a future WrestleMania should be held at Cowboys Stadium. This impressive venue can hold over 100,000 people. It’s unlikely WrestleMania 31 will be in it since the facility is being used for another event. It’s possible WrestleMania 32 could be there though.
