The WWE might bring in more revenue for this year’s WrestleMania 29 PPV. This is because they have increased the PPV price for the event by $5 for North American customers.

If you want to order the event in standard definition, this will now set you back $59.95. If you want to watch WrestleMania 29 in crystal clear HD, this will now cost you $69.95 just to view the event in the comfort of your own living room.

If demand for WrestleMania stays even from last year, this will bring in $3 million of extra revenue for the company. 1.2 million homes ordered last year’s WrestleMania 28 event which is still the most watched WWE PPV of all time.

This has already caused controversy with some fans. The cheapest ticket to WrestleMania 29 costs only $49.95. It’s literally more expensive to watch WrestleMania 29 on TV than it is by actually going to Metlife Stadium and seeing the event in person.

Not to mention, international customers only pay a fraction of the price that North American fans pay for WWE PPV events. In the UK, WrestleMania 29 will only cost £17.95. This is about $27. Likewise here in my home country of New Zealand, we only pay $25 for each PPV. This is only around $21 right now with the current exchange rate calculation.

It will be interesting to see if the same number of North American customers order WrestleMania 29 with the $5 price increase. I’m guessing WWE is capitalizing on the huge demand for The Rock vs John Cena. WrestleMania 29 is technically sold out right now so watching the event at home is the only option people have.
