The Rock Fails To Promote WWE WrestleMania 29

The Rock Not Promoting WWE

Even though The Rock is the current WWE Champion and is in the main event of WrestleMania 29, the Hollywood star has failed to promote the show properly as of late.

Last week, Rock appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno to promote G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Rock only spoke about his childhood and the movie itself. He also oddly said that he has a man-crush on Clint Eastwood. However, he did not speak anything about his professional wrestling career. More importantly, he never mentioned anything about being the current WWE Champion or WrestleMania 29.

This contradicts the press release that both Paramount Pictures and WWE revealed a few weeks ago about cross promoting each other’s work. Not to mention the reason Rock was made WWE Champion in the first place was to get more extra publicity for WrestleMania 29. He was expected to carry the WWE Championship belt around and promote his match with John Cena heavily.

It’s highly possible that Rock didn’t have a chance to talk about wrestling in the first place. Talk shows in general are heavily scripted and Paramount Pictures probably scheduled Rock into the show to talk exclusively about G.I. Joe: Retaliation and not WrestleMania 29. Not to mention he was only there to talk for 10 minutes.

Rock also appeared at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards over the weekend to accept the “Male Butt Kicker of the Year” award. Again, he did not bring the WWE Title belt with him and he did not mention wrestling at all.
