Predictions for Wrestlemania XXIX

The biggest event in all of pro wrestling is upon us, Wrestlemania. Whether you’re a fan of the business, or if you’re a fan of The E or not, this event will be forever synonymous with pro wrestling. It is also the only event where making predictions about match outcome takes on the feel of picking a team in the Super Bowl.

HHH Vs. Brock Lesnar

Career stipulations mean nothing, so we’ll discount that to start. The no-holds-barred stipulation is good for both and will hopefully mean an improvement from their Summerslam effort. HHH did the job back then, so I don’t see him jobbing to Lesnar twice.

Prediction: HHH

C.M. Punk Vs. The Undertaker

Had the storyline leading to their match been done better, I would be picking with my heart and going with Punk. Since they went in the direction they did, it’s obvious how this is going to go.

Oh, and when I mentioned that the storyline leading to this match could have been done better, I’m not one of those that is outraged about The E using Paul Bearer‘s death. Has everyone, except me, forgotten what promotion we’re dealing with? It was just that they could’ve gone in a different direction since it’s Wrestlemania, and they didn’t.

Prediction: The Undertaker

WWE Title: The Rock (c.) Vs. John Cena

I don’t believe for a second that Cena will be jobbing to the same guy two years in a row at Wrestlemania, even if that someone is The Rock. Being a title match makes me want to lean on Cena even more.

Prediction: John Cena

World Title: Alberto Del Rio (c.) Vs. Jack Swagger

I picked one world title change and I don’t see another one happening. Also, I have had no problem with the “Real American” storyline involving Swagger and Dutch because it was done in the typical cartoony fashion that The E is known for, and it’s typical.

Depending on where this is on the card, don’t be surprised if Ziggler cashes in his briefcase and wins the gold. If this is the opener, no way that’s gonna happen.

Prediction: Alberto Del Rio

WWE Tag-Team Titles: Daniel Bryan & Kane (c.) Vs. Dolph Ziggler & Big E. Langston

They’ve been together long enough for the storyline that brought them together, and the hints of a breakup have been shown in how they’ve been booked since the year began.

Prediction: Dolph Ziggler & Big E. Langston

Randy Orton, Sheamus & The Big Show Vs. The Shield

I’m sensing the Orton heel turn will what actually happens at this year’s Wrestlemania. That will overshadow The Shield’s win, but at least this way they’ll still get the win. They definitely need it more than the three former multiple-time world champs.

Prediction: The Shield

Ryback Vs. Mark Henry

This is another pick that seems like a forgone conclusion to me. Ryback is someone that The E is really going to go with and try to make into something. I still don’t see it and probably never will.

Prediction: Ryback

Chris Jericho Vs. Fandango

I don’t care about this character or whatever storyline is attached to him. I’m not angry about it or complaining about it even being on the show. It’s just not my thing. I will pay attention to this match to see if this guy can wrestle, and Jericho would be someone to bring that out of a guy. That is, if the match is given enough time to show that. Since the dancing guy character is apparently an idea Vince loves, the pick seems obvious.

Prediction: Fandango

Tensai, Funkasaurus, & The Funkette Vs. Damien Sandow, Cody Rhodes, & The Bellas

This really comes down to which set of women The E would rather push. Considering The E brought The Bellas back after they were gone and have always given them plenty of air time, that is good enough of a reason for me to base my prediction for a match like this.

Prediction: Sandow, Rhodes, & The Bellas

Intercontinental Title: Wade Barrett (c.) Vs. The Miz

Pretty sad that the IC title match isn’t even on the pay-per-view of the biggest show of the year. Anyway, things have been building to a title change here, and if they are going to try and push The Miz, then it’s time to give it a jumpstart.

Prediction: The Miz
