Antonio Cesaro Getting Buried

Antonio Cesaro debuted in the WWE last year and many people assumed he would go on to bigger and better things. Why do I get the notion right now that he’s just getting buried?

Cesaro is no stranger in the professional wrestling business. Prior to joining the WWE , he’d been wrestling in multiple independent promotions for over a decade. He mostly got famous when he wrested in Ring of Honor. Current WWE stars CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins also previously wrestled at Ring of Honor.

Cesaro was initially pushed early in his WWE career and was awarded the United States Championship for his efforts. For many weeks, he was on a winning streak and it looked like he was going to have a very lengthy title run.

It wasn’t until it became closer to WrestleMania 29 when it seemed like the company had lost interest in him altogether. After winning so many matches, he started to have a losing streak instead. He was booked in so many “non-title” matches where he would lose. To put the icing on the cake, he wasn’t even booked at WrestleMania 29. He wasn’t even famous enough to appear on the pre-show either. That position went to The Miz and Wade Barrett.

On Monday Night Raw this week, Cesaro is no longer the United States Champion as Kofi Kingston beat him cleanly. Some people are speculating since Cesaro lost the belt it might mean he will go on to bigger and better things. After all, Punk is one of the more higher profile wrestlers in the company that likes his work. A part of me suggests Cesaro is just getting buried full stop. Why else would they give him an embarrassing yodeling gimmick and make him lose all of the time?
