No one is making a bigger impact, a bigger impression in the WWE than the treacherous trio of the Shield.

Since debuting in the WWE in the fall of 2012, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns have ripped through the competition in the WWE on both Raw and Smackdown. They have left their marks on both brands by making an example out of some of the top WWE Superstars, more notably this past Monday’s victory over Team Hell No and the Undertaker.

With their impressive initial run in the WWE, is it fair to say that The Shield is the most dominant trio in wrestling history?

One team may take exception to this question that would be former WWE Tag Team champions Demolition. For those who may not know or may not remember — yes, Demolition did have three members. Shortly after WrestleMania IV, Crush was added to the duo of Ax and Smash.

With Demolition already a terrorizing threat, adding a third member made them look absolutely unstoppable in the WWE. Being the WWE Tag Team Champions with three members, opponents never knew whom they would be staring at on the other side of the ring when competing for the belts — leave it to them to add another level of intimidation to the factor.

For the sake of conversation, let’s say if these two teams were to go head to head, who would have the advantage? Who would dominate? Who would leave the ring victorious?

Strength:

Demolition has very raw, hard-hitting power behind every punch that they give to their opponents and they leave their opponents with a fierce reminder of who they are in the ring with. However, while the Shield may be giving up size, together they show an undying level of strength as they man handle their opponents.

Advantage: Demolition.

Speed:

The Shield uses the ring area to their advantage to create a surrounding element to anyone that they are taunting. Due to these tactics, they make escape impossible since it feels as if they are everywhere. Demolition was not known for how quick they were on their feet, but instead using their feet for some devastating kicks.

Advantage: The Shield

Mentors:

The Shield made their WWE debut at the Survivor Series 2012 and made a name for themselves by coming to CM Punk‘s aid. We later found out that Paul Heyman was financially supporting the Shield for their back up. Demolition was originally managed by Mr. Fuji. Although this was when they were a duo tag team, the teachings of Mr. Fuji never goes away.

Advantage: Demolition

Key Victories:

Demolition defeated both Strikeforce and The Colossal Connection (Andre The Giant and Haku) to win their Tag Team Championships, both at WrestleMania as well. The Shield have impressive victories over the likes of John Cena, Kane, Daniel Bryan, Randy Orton and The Big Show. All former world champions.

Advantage: The Shield

And The Winner Is … the Shield.

The key victories are what really pushed them over the finish line. Considering that they are newcomers to the WWE and still are adapting to the culture, having victories over former world champions is almost unheard of and nothing to sneeze at. The level of noise that these three are making will go down as one of the best starts in WWE history.

The scary part is … this is only the beginning.
