With The Undertaker healthy enough to wrestle, WWE is now discussing plans for his opponent at WrestleMania XXX.
There has already been some internal talk for Undertaker’s opponent next year for WrestleMania XXX. Some people within the company want him to face off against Ryback. In my opinion, this could be a great match to see, but not at WrestleMania if this is to be his “retirement” match. It would be better if he faced Ryback at SummerSlam this year instead.
If WrestleMania XXX is Undertaker’s last match, John Cena would be the most perfect opponent for him. Undertaker’s streak is impressive, although he never got to face the upper main event stars at the event. He’s faced Hulk Hogan, The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin before, but they were never staged at WrestleMania.
It’s been several years since The Undertaker has faced Cena. A match between the two now would be astronomical in terms of match quality and crowd reaction. I can imagine the number of older fans booing Cena out of the building if he is to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX.
It’s worth noting that The Undertaker himself mentioned at Fan Axxess during this year’s WrestleMania weekend that he might face off against Brock Lesnar. These two were originally scheduled to face each other back at WrestleMania 27. The deal fell through because Dana White didn’t want Lesnar to wrestle while he was still under contract with the UFC at the time.
My guess is that Cena will get the opportunity to face Undertaker. Cena has accomplished everything there is to do in the WWE except beating Undertaker.
