A huge match has been rumored to take place at SummerSlam that involves the “return” of The Undertaker.
Undertaker was “taken out” by The Shield a couple of weeks ago on Smackdown. This was a way to write him off the storylines and give him a rest. It also gave Undertaker a chance to get more surgery done.
It was initially thought that Undertaker wouldn’t be back until WrestleMania XXX. Undertaker’s preferred opponents for that event are either against Brock Lesnar or John Cena. Depending on how his surgery goes, we may get a chance to see Undertaker wrestle again much sooner.
WWE now wants Undertaker to team up with his “brother” Kane to get their revenge on The Shield. Kane and Undertaker previously fought The Shield on Raw and lost since they had Daniel Bryan in their team too. It sounds like WWE wants Bryan out of the SummerSlam rematch so that there isn’t a weak link on the team.
The Shield still remains undefeated as a unit. The only loss they’ve officially suffered was when Dean Ambrose lost to Undertaker in a singles match. As a team, they’ve managed to beat all of the company’s biggest stars such as John Cena, Randy Orton, Ryback and more. They even had a chance to beat down The Rock too.
Nothing is officially scheduled as of yet because it all depends on Undertaker’s decision. He may choose to rest his body up even more and decide to wait until WrestleMania XXX to get back into the ring. If that happens, we may see The Shield’s winning streak continue for even longer.
