Fandango Injured

Fandango was injured over the weekend with a match with Zack Ryder. Unfortunately, he’s not cleared to wrestle any time soon and will miss a few week’s of action.

Fandango was scheduled to be at WWE Payback this Sunday. He was booked in a match against both The Miz and Wade Barrett. Their match was for the Intercontinental Championship.

Since Fandango is unable to compete anymore, Vickie Guerrero announced that Curtis Axel will take his place. This is a good chance for Axel to win some gold as he’s already getting a good push from the company anyway. Axel still remains undefeated to this day, having victories over John Cena, Triple H and Chris Jericho.

This is obviously bad news for Fandango. He had been riding on a wave of momentum after debuting at WrestleMania 29, and is popular with the fans who love to dance and hum his theme music. It’s unknown how long Fandango will be out of action, but he will not be cleared to wrestle for at least a few weeks.

With Fandango’s concussion, this is a wake-up call for the WWE. Dolph Ziggler also suffered a serious concussion a few weeks ago and has missed a lot of action. Ziggler is still the World Heavyweight Champion, but has been out for over a month now.

WWE has already banned a few wrestling moves that cause concussions. Wrestlers are no longer able to hit each other in the head with steel chairs while piledrivers have been banned for years now. Will the company take even more steps to ensure the safety of its wrestlers?
