The WWE is a funny business because long-term decisions are rarely made. The company is currently discussing another idea to put in the main event for the SummerSlam PPV.
It was initially expected that Daniel Bryan would win the Money in the Bank match to challenge John Cena. Considering the amount of screen time Bryan is currently having, it made sense: these two have rarely faced against each other and could potentially put on a show-stealing type of match. Not to mention, it will be refreshing to see two babyfaces wrestling each other.
However, discussions took place earlier this week and the SummerSlam main event might be changed. If this other match takes place, Bryan may have to wait a few months later to challenge for the WWE Title if he’s still scheduled to win at Money in the Bank.
A very random triple threat match has now been put on the table. Cena is now expected to defend his WWE Title against Mark Henry and Ryback. This match looks bad on paper because last year’s triple threat match was not well received as CM Punk defended his title against Cena and Big Show in a pretty mediocre effort.
Let’s hope the WWE sticks with its original plan of Bryan vs. Cena at SummerSlam 2013. Not that I have anything against Henry and Ryback, but I don’t think a triple threat match would suit as a proper main event for SummerSlam. If all else fails, fans will just have to look forward to Punk vs. Brock Lesnar instead …
