Fandango debuted earlier this year and was given a huge push. However, it seems the dancing wrestler’s gimmick has made him a one hit wonder.
Fandango was the brain child of Vince McMahon and he was immediately given a huge push. Fandango was popular before he debuted in the WWE even though he was a heel. McMahon was confident that this character would work well.
For the first few weeks, many people doubted Fandango’s potential. This is because he would come out and never actually wrestle. Many assumed he’d become a flop before he even wrestled in his first match. Fears were squashed once he feuded with Chris Jericho.
Fandango and Jericho had a somewhat entertaining match at WrestleMania 29 and Fandango won in his debut. All the doubters were proved wrong thanks to Jericho allowing the young up and coming star to shine on the big stage.
On the Raw after WrestleMania 29, Fandango became an overnight star as fans started to hum his theme song. It looked like Fandango was to become the next huge star in the company.
As the weeks went by, people started not to chant his theme song anymore and his momentum dropped. Jericho ended up beating him in a rematch and then Fandango suffered a concussion that kept him off TV.
Fandango has finally returned, although WWE has changed a lot since his absence. Can he to stay on top with the likes of Rob Van Dam returning and The Wyatt Family debuting this week?
