The Bella Twins Divas

WWE’s Total Divas debuted last week on the E! channel. Usually, these types of shows are horrible but the first episode was surprisingly watchable.

I usually avoid so-called “reality” TV shows as they usually focus on nobodies who think they are famous. Keeping up with the Kardashians is the main culprit, although there are several other TV shows with similar content and structure that I despise as well.

Total Divas is WWE‘s own attempt at a reality TV show, and the first episode was surprisingly good. The main reason because of this is that we got to see some of the backstage antics that happen behind the curtains, but also got to witness some of the wrestlers’ private lives too.

Some of the moments I liked about the show were ones that showed how brutal the professional wrestling industry can be sometimes. WrestleMania 29 was pretty sad if you were a Diva in the company. The event had no females wrestling on the card. The Bella Twins and the Funkadactyls were devastated when their match was cut from the event.

Several things I did not like about the show is that the Bella Twins are labelled as the main stars. Not to mention, the show focuses on only a small group Divas in the locker room. The show only focuses on the Bellas, the Funkadactyls, Natalya and two new girls, Eva Marie and JoJo. You are unlikely to see much of the other female talent in the WWE such as A.J. Lee, Kaitlyn or Paige.

All in all, Total Divas wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It’s nice to see what happens behind the scenes in the WWE, although I feel the show drags on sometimes and the heavy focus on the Bellas is kind of a turn-off as well.
