On Aug. 18, 2013, Daniel Bryan will go to war with one of WWE’s best ever. He will go toe-to-toe with John Cena for the WWE championship. With Bryan being one of the hardest and best workers in wrestling today, it is an interesting matchup heading to SummerSlam.

Bryan recently did an interview with DirectTV per E-Wrestling News.com and gave his thoughts of being picked by Cena.

“It was incredible and humbling. I have been wresting for a long time and most of the time it was in front of very small crowds who couldn’t care less about who was coming out there. I have wrestled in front of 13 people! And just hearing the reaction of the people in Brooklyn who were shouting, “Yes! Yes!” – it was very surreal. Like ‘is this really my life?’” – Daniel Bryan in an interview with DirecTV.”

For those who don’t read the dirt sheets and follow spoiler websites, it was a huge shock. However, it was the proper choice by WWE to have Cena face Bryan for many reasons.

The debut of Total Divas

Nikki and Brie Bella are two of the stars of Total Divas, which debuted last week. Nikki is dating Cena and Brie is connected with Bryan. If WWE is smart, which they are, Cena and Bryan will bring in viewers to the new reality show with the new feud.

Bryan is the hottest thing in wrestling

Say whatever you want, Bryan is a much hotter commodity than CM Punk. I’m currently awaiting hatred from the Punk marks all around the world. “YES” chants fill each arena as soon as “Flight of the Valkyries” plays. Everyone and I mean everyone wanted Cena to pick him.

Bryan deserves it

Through all of the hard work Bryan puts in every day, he deserves to be in the main event of the second-biggest PPV of the year. SummerSlam is where careers can be made. It isn’t quite the level and mystique of WrestleMania, but SummerSlam is darn close.

So, if Bryan sounds very humbling for the opportunity, he is. If you watch Total Divas, Bryan is such a great person and likes the simplest aspects of life. He lives in Aberdeen, Washington in the house he grew up in. The man doesn’t even own a TV.

Regardless, this is wrestling and Bryan is ready for the opportunity to face one of the greatest WWE champions of all-time.
