The Rock Working Out

The Rock has stated that he’s still keeping the door open in terms of wrestling again. Will fans get to see him one more time next year for WrestleMania XXX?

The Rock was happy to come back and wrestle for his loyal fans when he came back to the WWE in 2011. After a long seven-year absence from the company, many fans (not all) embraced him with open arms. He eventually wrestled against John Cena at WrestleMania 28, which turned out to be the company’s most successful event off all-time in terms of revenue and PPV buys.

Knowing the Rock would bring in more viewers, the WWE decided to make him wrestle a bit more in the early part of 2013. He went on to become the WWE Champion by defeating CM Punk at the Royal Rumble. He wrestled a month later in a rematch with Punk and successfully defended his belt.

This set the stage for WrestleMania 29, where he wrestled against Cena once again. The event may not have had as many PPV buys as WrestleMania 28, but it exceeded the event in terms of revenue thanks to the increased ticket prices PPV cost.

As successful as WrestleMania 29 was, it put a damper in the Rock’s spirits because he got injured. Hollywood hates injuries, and the Rock mentioned many times after that match that he’s retired once again. He thought the match with Cena would never be topped and he was happy to end his wrestling career for the second time.

Now the Rock is open to wrestling again, but noted he’d be happy if WrestleMania 29 was to be his last-ever match. It was initially expected that he’d face Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX. Let’s hope the Rock makes a decision soon so this rematch from SummerSlam 2002 can finally come true.
