Who doesn’t love a good ‘Throwback Thursday’ photo? Sure, sometimes they embarrass us, but they usually never fail to make us smile. WWE superstar John Cena is currently on the road to recovery following elbow surgery and as a result, he has a little more time on his hands than usual. Cena took to Twitter on Thursday to post the gem of a TBT photo:
This is a photo from 16 years ago when Cena was enrolled at Springfield College in his home state of Massachusetts. He was a D-III All-American center and wore the number 54, which was used on several of his old WWE t-shirts.
As far as current day Cena is concerned, he’s admittedly going stir crazy following surgery on his elbow a couple weeks back. The operation was performed by Dr. James Andrews and it’s left the superstar with no choice but to stay out of action for a few months. For those of you who still doubt the toll pro wrestling takes on performers’ bodies, take a look at this:
The WWE’s top star is expected by some to be out of action until early 2014, but anyone who’s followed his career knows that he always returns early from injuries. It’s been said 1,000 times, but love or hate the guy, no one in WWE works harder than John Cena. You can tell from his tweets lately that it’s already killing him to not be with the company. However, I believe a few months rest is the possible thing for him right now. Both in terms of his health and on-screen character.
