Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins of The Shield Need Better Competition

Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins of the Shield are the WWE Tag Team Champions, and they simply have no competition.

Reigns and Rollins are a good team who will never be considered great without solid competition. Champions are only as good as their competition. Great tag team champions of the past, like Demolition, were able to define their greatness by turning back the challenges of other great teams like the Hart Foundation, the Rockers and the Brain Busters on a regular basis.

Who do Reigns and Rollins have for competition? 3MB are glorified jobbers who serve more as comic relief than true tag team contenders. Jack Swagger and Antonio Cesaro were thrown together and are just not gelling as a team in my opinion. Tons of Funk is just another thrown together team, and they aren’t working.

I feel like the Prime Time Players and the Usos work very hard, but they are just not on the same level as Reigns and Rollins. I don’t expect Los Matadores to be serious contenders either. The one team that Reigns and Rollins need to help make them great is the one team who they may not be running into anytime soon.

The Wyatt Family would be real competition. However, these two teams may be kept apart for a while because they are both heels at the moment.

What is frustrating is that I believe there is no excuse for the WWE tag team division to be so weak. There is plenty of talent in WWE, and it is their job to put the right talent in the right spots. The legacy of Reigns and Rollins as WWE Tag Team Champions will depend on it.
