Why Didn't The Rock Promote WWE 2K14?

WWE 2K14 features The Rock on the cover. The man himself however, had no time to actually promote the game.

I remember the huge announcement earlier this year that Rock was going to be on the cover for WWE 2K14. This was a good choice considering he’s the most recognized name that they could get. Rock is a huge Hollywood star now and is famous all around the world. 2K Games knew he would be the best person to feature on the cover.

It was reported a few months ago that Rock may have come back briefly for the WWE to help promote the game. After all, he’s on the cover and is featured heavily in the “30 Years of WrestleMania” mode. Alas, the game is now out and he never had a chance to promote the game at all.

I’m not sure what type of impact this would have on WWE 2K14’s sales, but it is something to note. If Rock did promote the game in any form, I’m sure it would have created more awareness among wrestling and video game fans alike.

Some people have mentioned that promotion for WWE 2K14 has been odd since NBA 2K14 got more advertisement time during Raw segments. Still, the game has been getting rather favorable reviews, so I’m sure it will sell well. The only thing that would stop it from becoming a huge hit is the amount of competition it faces. The game is coming out roughly around the same time as big hitters Battlefield 4, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Call of Duty: Ghosts.
