It’s being reported that WWE is starting to lose faith in Ryback. Is this a good or bad thing for the company?
Ryback debuted last year to a ton of momentum. He was on an unbeaten streak and it looked like WWE finally found its next huge star. The fans were liking his winning streak as it was similar to the one Goldberg had back in WCW.
Alas, all of Ryback’s momentum was deflated once he entered the WWE title picture. The company was reluctant to make him champion, so he lost a series of matches to then-champion CM Punk. After that, he lost a series of matches again to the Shield and then lost at WrestleMania 29 to Mark Henry.
When Ryback turned heel, you would think the company would have started to push him again. This wasn’t to be the case because he lost a ton of matches again. He failed to win a single match against John Cena. After his battles with Cena, Ryback’s career was in limbo. WWE had nothing for him and he wasn’t doing anything. That was until in September when they decided to align him with Paul Heyman. Again, Ryback faced Punk and lost in their two matches on PPV.
It seems as if Ryback has not won a major match in over a year now. All the momentum he had last year is now down the toilet. This is quite sad as I felt he had some potential. The only thing that was stopping him is that he’s still reckless in the ring and not very good at representing himself during media interviews. I wonder what WWE has planned for him now?
