Triple H and Stephanie McMahon promised that the end of the TLC PPV will crown only one winner. Are they telling the truth?
The main event for TLC 2013 is the mega-match between Randy Orton and John Cena. Both the WWE Championship and and World Heavyweight Championship will be on the line to crown one Unified Champion in the WWE. This is the first time the company will only have one champion since 2001.
Personally, I think it’s odd that WWE will book a match this big at the TLC PPV. TLC is usually a great PPV to watch, but it’s really at a bad time of the year. It’s near to Christmas, and some people won’t be watching wrestling at that time. Most people would be spending their money on presents and not on $50 PPV events.
With that in mind, I have a feeling that the conclusion of the match will not have a clean finish. The most predictable outcome would be outside interference that would allow Orton to win the match. This could happen, but is too boring in my opinion. Another scenario that could happen is if both Cena and Orton grab a belt each. That way, they still remain as their respective champions, but they will have to fight again to actually determine a “Unified Champion”.
In either case, I feel as if this storyline won’t be resolved until at least WrestleMania XXX. Crowning a Unified Champion should happen at the biggest stage, so I’m hoping WWE doesn’t throw away this moment on a PPV that not many people will watch.
